My colleague Rich Pierce and I are in Atlanta, GA, for the next few days at the College Broadcasters, Inc. National Student Electronic Media Convention. We’ll be attending several seminars and roundtable discussions ranging from social media to employee retention to web development to anchor performance.
My hope is we’ll bring back some valuable information for TV2 KSU and, also, some personal improvement ideas for our eventual media careers.
I am most interested to see what the WordPress seminars may offer. I’d like to think I am, at least, an advanced user on WordPress.com. WordPress.org is a region I’d like to explore more. But we’ll see what the seminars have to offer. Mostly, I want to hear what other college stations are doing to see how we compare.
We only recently started habitually submitting our work to various contests like BEA, JEA, CMA and CBI. Submissions from JMC at KSU used to be a yearly thing. We kind of fell off the map for a bit. But now we’ve done fairly well for “comeback kids” on the award scene. Here, at CBI, we’re finalists in Sports Anchoring, Station Promo, Best Entertainment Show and Best Comedy. All of us at TV2 were extremely humbled just to be a finalist in four different categories. The awards ceremony is on Saturday. I’ll keep you all posted! More to come from CBI in Atlanta!
